Privacy notice

Your family’s care information is private by default.

Baby Brief is operated by Ryan Youngdale, sole proprietor (“Baby Brief,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Notice explains how we handle personal information through the Baby Brief iOS app, private caregiver handoff website, and getbabybrief.com (collectively, the “Service”).

Information we collect and handle

We receive this information from you, from another adult authorized to share it with you, from a caregiver using a private handoff, from your device while you use the Service, and from Apple or another sign-in provider when you choose that sign-in method.

How we use information

We use information to create and maintain accounts and households; create, display, synchronize, and share Care Cards and handoffs; authenticate users; send requested push notifications and opted-in alerts; respond to support requests; prevent misuse and protect the security of the Service; troubleshoot and improve reliability; and comply with applicable law.

How information is shared

We do not sell personal information or use your family’s care information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only as described below:

Mobile phone information is not sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Text-message originator opt-in data and consent records are not shared with third parties except providers acting only as necessary to operate the Baby Brief messaging program.

Retention and account deletion

We retain personal information for as long as needed to provide the Service, maintain an active handoff, meet security and legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You can delete care records in the app and can request account deletion through the account settings. Account deletion is designed to remove the account and associated household data from the live Service, subject to any limited information that must be retained for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or the normal lifecycle of backup systems. People who received information through an authorized handoff may retain information they saw or copied outside the Service.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including authenticated access controls, household-level authorization, private handoff links, secure service-provider infrastructure, and encrypted transport. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, and you should not share a private handoff link more broadly than intended.

Your choices and privacy requests

You may update or delete information in the app, end a handoff, or disable notifications through your device settings. A caregiver may disable a handoff’s alerts on the caregiver website or reply STOP to stop all Baby Brief RCS/SMS alerts to that number. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, or to ask about our handling of it. To make a request, email privacy@getbabybrief.com. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.

Children’s information

Baby Brief is intended for parents, legal guardians, and caregivers; it is not directed to children and children may not create accounts. Adults are responsible for entering and sharing a child’s information only when they have authority to do so. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children through the Service.

Changes and contact

We may update this notice as the Service or applicable law changes. We will post the revised notice here and update its effective date.
